    By Santa & Cole Designed for the restoration of the Liceo – Barcelona’s grand opera theatre that was engulfed in flames in 1994 –, this lamp incorporates a large source of light at the bottom that focuses a wealth of indirect light upwards. With a shade consisting of a large hollow fireproof bronze mesh attached to a steel shaft, the Liceo lamp looks like a striking ball of fire that irradiates a dramatic luminous effect, lending a touch of grace to the classiest venues.   • M68

    By Santa & Cole The hugely evocative shade on the M68 lamp immortalises the silhouette of a woman’s shoulders. It is an aluminium re-edition of the famous methacrylate pop lamp from the 1960s – also by Miguel Milá – and it is now available in lively red or matte white, as well as in polished aluminium. Since the shade is opaque, its bell-shape cross section gives it a large inside surface to diffuse the light. The electrical cable runs from the top middle area of the shade along with a tiny metal cylinder that links the shade and the steel wire that holds it aloft.     By Santa & Cole The poplar is a tree that is characteristic to river banks and wetlands, producing soft white, almost knot-free wood, which needs to be felled before autumn in order to preserve its whiteness and flexibility. Using this highly abundant, popular material, pioneering designer Ferrán Freixa designed an unusual shade with an oriental, virtually Zen style, built using thin vertical strips attached to a small, circular metal rod structure.   • Nimba

    By Santa & Cole Nimba is the first lamp designed by Antoni Arola. It is a floating ring of light formed by a metal profile that houses the light source and a lower shade to diffuse the light. Nimba is named after the halo or aureole of the holy depictions – “it can be seen but is not there” – and owing to its arrangement, the light focuses in the middle of nothing in order to spread the light in all directions. Used in a single unit or with several, Nimba creates incorporeal, spiritual atmospheres; it illuminates in a diffused, though effective fashion and is perfect for thoroughfares and retreats.   • GT5/GT6

    By Santa & Cole Conceived for average-size settings and areas in the home, GT5 and GT6 are two ribbon pendant shades that are capable of lending character to any venue by dint of merely being there. Ever since the early 1990s, Santa & Cole has championed the use of ribbon shades to embellish all manner of light sources, exploring textiles and experimenting with colours and tones (they even enlisted the help of Raw Color studio). The GT5 was the first in the collection arising as an alternative to the use of continuous textile, methacrylate and cardboard shades. It was followed by the GT6 and, later on, the larger GT7, GT1000 and GT1500, designed for use in public venues owing to their large dimensions.
